Plasti Dip is an essential product for cosplayers who use it to construct their replica props and costumes. These EVA foam costumes are light to wear and affordable to make, but Plasti Dip is needed to seal the foam before painting.
We love the enthusiastic feedback we have from our cosplaying customers and the photos they share with us, so we thought we’d round up some of their feedback and images in this post so you can see some of the amazing ways that Plasti Dip can be used.
Using Plasti Dip to prime EVA foam before painting
Dan Dufaur says:
“Great products. I make cosplay costumes from EVA foam and I use the clear coat to give EVA foam a surface to paint onto as well as some of the other colors to paint it.”
Lee Herron says:
“I was recommended your Plasti Dip spray to paint my iron man costume and I must say it didn’t disappoint. I made the costume out of foam and was worried that the paint wouldn’t stick and hold when flexed, but the spray has done a great job and had lived up to my expectations.”
Joe says:
“Currently working on a POTC Davy Jones costume and prop set. Used clear Plasti Dip on the latex mask and the go ossified. Works a treat and remains flexible. Used it on other stuff too such as the boot etc. Plasti Dip is more expensive than other coatings, but it does the job great, and doesn’t crack.”
Tamsin James (above) says:
“I’ve used the Plastidip in the making of my newest cosplay outfit, this time it was armour for Wonder Woman. It’s been incredibly helpful in making sure that the spray paint over the top does not crack when the foam is bent or moved. It has also made it so that the paint, in general, is more smooth when finished.”
Jerry Paris (above) says:
“I used your Plasti-dip clear spray as a primer and also a sealer on this armour and axe that was made to upgrade my previous Orc costume. Decided to teach myself how to make equipment props from EVA foam. All the pros recommended using your product and it hasn’t disappointed. Easy to work with, fast drying and does not effect the colour when clear spray is used to seal over the top of painted work. All round performance and almost completed the entire job from only one can – that’s two arm bracers, one of which has nearly 20 blades on it, front, back and shoulder armour, neck cover armour and a huge war axe. All of these props were sprayed before and after painting. Very pleased with your product and am now looking through your catalogue at the range of other sprays with a view to other projects. Many thanks.
Nik Stevenson (costume above) says:
“Fantastic Coating for Cosplay, but then, doesn’t every cosplayer know that! Aerosol spray Red makes for a really vibrant colour match for my Praetorian Guard (Last Jedi) cosplay, really impressed and the service has been great”
Mark says
“I use this to prime cosplay props. It’s a little more expensive than other products but is also far, far superior to other products too. Also, it arrived 2 days early and the little bag of Starmix was not unappreciated! So long as the price stay about the same I can’t see myself using anything else for this particular job. Great stuff!”

“Great stuff fast drying and easy coverage. It has been used to make costumes”
