Musical instruments last a long time but often suffer from wear and tear. We’ve found many customers who have turned to Plasti Dip as a finish for their drums and banjos and in this post we share some of their feedback which we hope will give you ideas about how you can use our products to protect and preserve your musical instruments.
Coating the metal parts of a banjo
Russ Chandler says: “I’m a banjo player but I have an allergy to the metal banjos are made of! Normally I have to rely on using pvc and gaffer tape to protect my skin but Plastidip seems to provide a much better solution. I took a standard banjo armrest and used glasspaper to key the chrome surface. I then applied the Plastidip undiluted using a brush. As you can see the result is very neat and tidy and so far my skin has been fine. The finish is a bit rough but I wonder if a little very fine wet and dry paper might sort that out. I would think dipping would be the preferred method if you have the facilities to do it but brushing works fine. Could be a really useful solution for people with allergy problems like me. “
Refinishing drum straps
Keith Starkey says: “Good coverage and application on White plastic military-style uniform belts and drum straps. Just what I was looking for. Good customer service and great product”
Recoating drumstick grips
Peter Martin says: “Great product, done exactly what I wanted it to do. The drumsticks I was using were losing their grip so I sprayed the grip with Plasti Dip rubber spray and “Job done”
Chris Young says: “I had stumbled across Plasti Dip through a drummer’s forum on Facebook – I custom build snare drums and was looking for an alternative finish for the hardware on certain drums. until now i had needed to use a traditional powder coating. This is the first time I have used this product and was really impressed with the range of colours and the incredible finish achieved using the Glossifier product in conjunction with the colour spray – will be trying the metalizer effects next and building up my stock of colours. Plasti Dip has opened up an avenue of possibilities to me and my products”
