Plasti Dip products are a popular choice for motorcyclists and scooter riders. In this post we round up some of the feedback we have received about using it for maintenance and repairs…
Use Plasti Dip as a protective coating
Peter says: “top gear used the clear on my motorbike paniers + gloss on top hard to tell it was there. just done a tour of Europe + 2 ferry crossings with the wife on and of the bike scuff marks on the paniers people squeezing past on the boat etc. on return plasti dip pealed of not a mark excellent product, will use again on my next trip”
Anthony Drew says: “I used it to put a protective coating onto a U-Bolt that was going to be attached to my motorbike to hold a satnav system in place. It was fantastic and worked a treat, it prevented scratching, increased grip and blended a stainless steel bolt into the black headstock.”
Rich says: “Seems to be great stuff. I thought I’d give it a try and to be honest I was sceptical. However, it’s worked a treat. I used it to protect the swinging arm on one of my motorcycles when lifting the bike onto a paddock stand. The metal fork which locates on a bobbin which is fixed to the swinging arm is bare metal and unprotected making it easy to catch the swinging arm and damage it. Plasti Dip covers the tip of the fork and provides added protection should you manage to catch the swinging arm by accident.”
Neil Morgans: “I purchased a small tin of your Plasti Dip on Friday, it arrived on Saturday and I applied it to 2 vintage motorcycle brake and clutch levers last night, 2 coats as instruction. It’s turned out better than I thought. Fantastic job. It does exactly what it says on the tin!”
Waterproofing muffs on a scooter
Mauricio Lopes says: “Nice price. Outstanding product. I used it to waterproofing two Muffs in my Scooter. Works perfect ! Thank you very much lads! Keep up the good work!”
Carburetor repairs
Ben Squires says: “Fast delivery – good product. Bought to repair vintage motorbike carburettor diaphragm; worked a treat. Have started coating all my household goods/girlfriend with it in a bid to be known as ‘Rubberfinger’!!”
Alex Lawton says: “I’ve used Plasidip on carburetor intake manifolds on my motorbike where the originals have cracked with age, i’ve also used some on a weeping petrol tank, and also on homemade gaskets just to add a bit of strength.”
Use VLP (Vinyl/Leather Repair) to repair bike seats
Clive Tanner says: “Very useful as I made a successful repair to a bad cut in a vinyl motorcycle seat, also repaired camera case, bag handle and a plastic keyboard key. “
Andrew morling says: “I used your product to fix a tear on my motorbike seat, and very successful it was too!”
Changing the appearance of a bike
Gary Mullineaux says: “I made my new Triumph Thruxton look vintage with matt black and clear. Looks amazing, protects the Bike and can easliy be peeled back to original. spec.”
